COMUNICACIÓN Y PRENSA
The special edition of Tales of the Alhambra by Washington Irving, edited by the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife and the newspaper IDEAL, is part of the activities organized by the Patronato de la Alhambra on the occasion of the 150 anniversary of the writer’s death. The book contains illustrations from the Archive and Library of the Autonomous Body as well as a gold foil thermo-engraved cover depicting an engraving by David Roberts.
This special edition contains an article by Antonio Gallego Morell, published in 1960 in the journal Revista Hispánica Moderna in New York, with the title ‘The Alhambra’, Washington Irving y sus traducciones españolas (“’The Alhambra’, Washington Irving and the Spanish translations”), as a tribute to the great intellectual and exemplary citizen in Granada, who was associated to the Patronato as well as to IDEAL. This article, together with a certain number of engravings, attaches a special value to this edition.
Since the beginning of 2010, when the promotion by the newspaper has finished, it is possible to buy the book in the bookstores of the Monumental Complex. Furthermore, the distribution by the publishing house Ediciones Miguel Sánchez will make the book available in every bookstore of Granada city and province.
