Art and craftsmanship, a century of Islamic ornamentation
The exhibition Art and craftsmanship, a century of Islamic ornamentation, to be held at the Casa de los Tiros Museum in Granada from 31 March to 29 April, gathers together 30 photographs by Nieves Jiménez López, teacher on the Art Photography Cycle, and some 15 directly-carved plaster pieces from the Islamic Ornamentation Workshop, some dating back to the early 20th century.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Robles Pozo Foundation at the Granada School of Art, with generous support from the Delegation for Culture-Casa de los Tiros Museum, and the Euro-Arab Institute Foundation for Education and Training.
The Cycle on Islamic Ornamentation, strongly linked with the Alhambra, is offered by the Granada School of Art. At present, the Cycle allows students to undertake work experience programmes at the Alhambra, and Granada School of Art pupils have always been heavily involved in maintaining the plasterwork at the Alhambra y Generalife site.
