Gallo. Interior of a magazine. Exhibition
Place: Madrid Student Residence
Date: From 25th September to 30th November 2008
The magazine Gallo appeared in Granada in 1928, promoted by Federico García Lorca, and only two numbers were published, one in February and another one in April of that year. In spite such an ephemeral life, several of the most interesting lines of the Literature and the plastic arts of the moment coexist in the magazine, which agree in vindicating a New Art for their time.
In Gallo, whose logo was drawn by Salvador Dalí and caligraphed by Federico García Lorca, 1927 generation poets collaborated like Jorge Guillén or Jose Bergamín, writers like Francisco Ayala, Melchor Fernandez Almagro or Francisco García Lorca, and art critics like Sebastià Gasch, who publishes a text on Picasso and who was one of the most frequent correspondents of García Lorca in the 1920’s.
