in the Alhambra

The Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife and the Museo Cuevas del Sacromonte are organizing the series of activities called Valparaíso, un río de oro. Alhambra, Albaycín, Sacromonte  (‘Valparaíso, a river of gold. Alhambra, Albaycín, Sacromonte’). The aim of these activities, taking place from 22 October to 13 November, is to promote the knowledge of the historical, natural, landscape, artistic and imaginary value of the Valley Valle del Valparaíso and of the Darro River. The widespread program contains a poetry reading, lectures, round tables, tours, excursions, concerts, workshops for children, passacaglia, and even a photography contest. The main venues of the program will be the Palace of Charles V in the Alhambra Complex, the palace called Palacio de los Condes de Gabia, and the Carmen de la Victoria Park.
This event is the result of the admiration for this heritage and for the need of and responsibility for preserving this unique environment, which plays a basic role as a supporting axis for the structure of the city of Granada. Furthermore, the irrigation channels, symbols of the Arabic past, are witness of the perfect dialogue between the Alhambra, Albaicín, Sacromonte and the old series of arches in the Vega, making up today the city of Granada.
