Another year the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife and the Mediterranean Centre of the University of Granada, within the programme of Summer Courses 2008 will offer the course “The Alhambra: Heritage and Cultural Diversity” coinciding with the European Year of Cross-cultural dialogue.
Heritage, as intended social construction, represents a meeting point in our present world, a place of mediation whose knowledge and enjoyment can today be considered a civil right. Reflecting on its function, deepening in its research and disseminating its multiple values are tasks associated with the preservation of the cultural values as carriers of different and enriching historical periods.
The Alhambra, as one of the sites included in the World Heritage List, is today viewed as a monument full of meanings and a permanent example of a cultural crossing point. Based on different approaches and methodologies we intend to approach its past to its present, to its permanent intercultural lesson.
