The regional minister of culture chairs the assembly of the council of the alhambra and generalife

This morning at the Palace of Charles V Rosa Aguilar, the Minister of Culture of the Regional Government of Andalusia, chaired the annual meeting of the assembly of the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife. At the meeting the annual report and the liquidation of the budget for 2014 were approved as were the action programme and the budget for 2015 set at 27,321,830€, an important increase on the figure for 2014 of 26,917,353€.

The members of the assembly were also informed about the continuing collaboration with other institutions such as the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation and the University of Granada. The restoration work currently underway at the monument was also detailed. This includes work on the Baths in the Palace of Comares, the Tower of Justice and the restoration of the Torres Bermejas, whose opening to the public is likely to be announced in the coming months.

Aguilar explained at a press conference that they had also agreed that an extraordinary meeting of the assembly would soon be called to select the new Director of the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife. The Minister stated her “willingness to dialogue with the different administrations” on this question. 

Rosa Aguilar expressed her “satisfaction” for the good economic results achieved by the monument and underlined that “the Alhambra is moving forward and these figures bring benefits for the city of Granada”. She ended by insisting that “dialogue and consensus will be the hallmark” of this new period.
