Today the Alhambra was visited by the famous basketballing brothers Pau and Marc Gasol and their Spanish international teammate José Manuel Calderón, who toured the Alhambra in a lightning visit which they described as “too short”.
The Council of the Alhambra explained to the Efe News Agency that the three members of the Spanish basketball team, who are also stars of the NBA, took advantage of their brief visit to Granada from Seville to visit the Nasrid Palaces part of the monument.
Friendly and accessible to all the visitors who came over to greet them, the sportsmen showed interest in the comments and explanations made by the guide from the educational programme who accompanied them on their tour.
Pau Gasol, who had previously visited the Alhambra in 2012, said that he was amazed by the wooden ceiling in the Throne Room and its relationship with the number 7 and praised the state of conservation of Spain’s most visited monument.
Granada will be the next stop for the NBA touring team, who will be playing a friendly match against Turkey in the Sports Palace next Tuesday.
