Cultural Landscapes, World Heritage and Art and Cultures

The Alhambra will devote the month of February to two seminars in which debate will revolve around Cultural Landscapes, World Heritage and the Art and Culture of al-Andalus.
To this end a seminar will be held on the 14th and 15th February in the Palace of Charles V as a grand finale to the exhibition Art and Cultures of al-Andalus, the Power of the Alhambra, organized by the Consortium for the Millennium, the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife and the al-Andalus Legacy Foundation.
Meanwhile the Casa Árabe in Madrid will be organizing a series of lectures on the same theme that will continue until 19th March. These lectures will be given by specialists who will be analysing the development of a wide range of forms of cultural expression that blossomed in al-Andalus and the characteristics and symbolic values of its culture.

Shortly afterwards, the Alhambra will be playing host to a debate on Cultural Landscapes and World Heritage. This comes after a visit to Aranjuez, where a Seminar entitled “Cultural Landscape: perceptions and concepts” was held on 12th and 13th December; and Las Médulas, where a debate on “Cultural Landscapes – Management of the Territory” was held on 23rd and 24th January. The meeting in Granada will be entitled “Cultural Landscapes: strategies for social perception and communication” and will be held on 20th and 21st February.
This series of seminars is aimed at specialists and experts working in the field of World Heritage and Cultural Landscapes, and at other professionals interested in this question.
