The Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation opens its doors to the public and organizes combined visits with the Alhambra

We all now have the chance to visit and rediscover the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation. From the 1st August, the institution will be opening its doors to the public, and will be extending its cultural activities, in conjunction with the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife, by organizing combined visits with the Alhambra.
This morning the President of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation, the artist Miguel Rodríguez-Acosta, and the Vice-President of the Institution and Director of the Alhambra, María del Mar Villafranca, presented these new itineraries and themselves visited the different spaces which from now on will be open to the public. The visitors were accompanied by the staff from the Foundation who will be responsible for organizing the visits.
“The opening of the Foundation to the public is one of the most important challenges it has undertaken in this new phase. We hope that the public enjoys this space and that it becomes one of the sights that people should see when they come to Granada. And although we know that a lot of people from Granada already know the House, we also want them to come up to the House and rediscover it”, said Miguel Rodríguez-Acosta.
Those interested in visiting the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation can reserve their tickets on the website www.fundacionrodriguezacosta.com or at the ticket office of the Carmen Blanco (White House), the seat of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation, in Calle Niño del Royo, 8, Granada. There will be two types of visit to the house: The General Visit, including the ground floor of the Painter’s Studio, the Gardens, the Underground Gallery, and the Museum of the Gómez-Moreno Institute, which will cost 5 euros, and the Complete Visit, which will also include access to the library and which will cost 6 euros. Tickets for both types of visit can be bought at the ticket office of the foundation, online (www.fundacionrodriguezacosta.com) or via the call centre. Visitors to the foundation will be accompanied by staff from the spin-off company, A Night +, a new business project which emerged at the University of Granada and seeks to boost youth employment and increase the number of nights that visitors spend in hotels in Granada, by encouraging them to visit different heritage spaces in the city.
People from Granada, free every Sunday. In addition, the people of Granada will be able to visit the Carmen Blanco the seat of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation every Sunday afternoon free of charge -from 14:00 to 20:00h from 15th March to 14th October and from 14:00 to 18:00h from 15th October to 14th March-. Tickets can be collected at the offices of the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife in the Corral del Carbón, Calle Mariana Pineda s/n, Granada, on the Monday prior to the Sunday on which they want to make their visit. All they have to do is accredit that they were born or are currently resident in the city or the province of Granada. Each person can withdraw a maximum of five tickets per visit.

The Director of the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife explained that the combined entrance ticket with visits to the Alhambra and to the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation will come in two formats. 1) Alhambra-Foundation , which will cost €17 and which will allow the visitor daily access to all the spaces they can visit at the Alhambra  (Alcazaba, Nasrid Palaces, Generalife, Palace of Charles V, Bath of the Mosque and the Gardens) and the Carmen Blanco of the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation (Gardens, Underground Gallery and Gómez-Moreno Museum). 2) Alhambra night Nasrid Palaces-Foundation and Alhambra night Generalife-Foundation, the first costing 10 euros and the second costing 7. These other combined itineraries will allow visitors to make a night-time visit to either the Nasrid Palaces or Palace and gardens of the Generalife and, a daytime visit to the foundation.
“The Alhambra will always be the epicentre of these visits and will act as an ambassador, so that our visitors can discover other nearby places such as the Rodriguéz-Acosta Foundation. This visit will reinforce and complement the cultural project that we have been developing in the last few years at the Council of the Alhambra”, remarked Villafranca.
A combined school visit to the Alhambra and the Foundation has also been designed. This will allow children to visit the Alcazaba or fortress of the Alhambra and the interesting spaces at the Foundation in an attractive new architectural and artistic dialogue between the two monuments. These visits will begin in the autumn.
