Tomorrow is Saturday and the Alhambra will be turning off its lights from 20:30 to 21:00 in support of ‘Earth Hour’, a global initiative against climate change organized by WWF/Adena.
People from over 6,000 cities from all over the world will be expressing their explicit support for the fight against climate change by turning off the lights in their most emblematic buildings.
The aim of this initiative is to make people aware of the importance of small everyday actions, such as replacing the light bulbs we use in our houses for other low energy bulbs or turning down the thermostat on our central heating, ideas that contribute to reducing energy consumption, creating good habits and raising world awareness.
The initiative is supported by the World Heritage Centre of UNESCO.
