Pau Gasol, the centre of the Spanish basketball team and the star of Los Angeles Lakers, has visited the Alhambra this afternoon. As soon as the date for the basketball game between Spain and Australia at the Sports Arena of Granada was chosen the sportsman expressed his wish to visit the Nasrid monument.
Pau Gasol was surprised by the preservation of the monument, the majesty of the palaces and the secrets kept by the epigraphs inscribed in the walls of the Alhambra. The NBA champion carefully listened to each detail of the one hour guided tour conducted by Jesús Bermúdez, Archaeology Technical Consultant.
The Conservation Architect from the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, Francisco Lamolda, and the Director of Institutional Relations of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), Francisco Barranco, decided to accompany the most important player of Spanish basketball history on his visit.
The world champion and Olympic champion of the Spanish basketball team kindly showed his interest on the Alhambra. He also confessed that he was really looking forward to visiting this palatine city about which he had read and researched before arriving to Granada.
