This year marks the 107th anniversary of the foundation of Rotary International. Each year, three of the world’s landmark buildings are chosen on which to project the Rotary logo and the slogan of the “End Polio Now” campaign, promoted by Rotary and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
This 23 February, at 20.00 hours, the logos will be projected onto the façade and Watch Tower of the Alhambra.
The Alhambra, where the lights are turned off each year on Earth Day, to inspire awareness for the natural environment, this year will be lit up as part of the fight against one of the most devastating childhood illnesses – poliomyelitis, which still continues to wreak havoc in many underdeveloped countries.
Representatives from the Government of Andalusia, Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife and the town of Granada, will be there to witness the switching on of the lights.
