The Yamur
Schedule: every Saturday in September at 12.00 p.m.
Place: Hall III, Museum of the Alhambra, Palace of Charles V
The purpose of this activity consists in making a brief analysis of the world of religion, magic and superstition of the Andalusian and Islamic world.
Based on this concept we will center our analysis on the Taifa yamur, exhibited in hall III of the Museum of the Alhambra.
The explanations will be about the relation of the morphologic and type features of this object, the role of these elements in the belltowers of the Islamic mosques and issues related to the decoration and manufacturing techniques.
We will conclude this conference with the description – mainly through medieval reproductions and descriptions by geographers and historians -of other similar types of Andalusian and Islamic chronology, without forgetting the comparison with currently preserved elements in Islamic territories.
