The latticework of the Room of the Beds, Bath of Comares
Schedule: every Saturday in August at 12.00 p.m.
Place: Hall VII, Museum of the Alhambra, Palace of Charles V
This latticework is the result of the Mudejar reforms of the 16th century. They were kept in their original place, the room of the Beds, until 1827 when it was decided to restore its medieval aspect and the added body was suppressed. The latticework was disassembled and moved to the warehouses of the Alhambra where they remained until they were moved to the Museum.
Its construction technique is based on a series of complicated joints that alternate to allow the rule of the bow as they interweave bow laces one above and the other below. Thanks to these joints, the wood strips or peinazos, are joined to each other or apeinazan, with no need for any metallic element. The decoration of the wood strips is based on six polychromatic gauges with the same colour sequence: black, red, black, black, red and black.
Although this solution of latticework is Nasrid, very few examples have been preserved.
