COMUNICACIÓN Y PRENSA
The Alhambra is a group of monuments built predominantly by Nasrid, Renaissance and Romantic architects, without forgetting all the contributions made during the 20th Century.
Our recommended book this month focuses on the Alhambra in the Romantic Era and covers the period from 1814, when the Napoleonic troops withdrew from the Alhambra dynamiting it and leaving it in a state of ruin, to 1851, when the Contreras family of restorers were in charge of all aspects of the conservation/restoration of the Alhambra.
As well as describing all the restoration works performed during this period, of which there were many, the book tries to place them within the socio-cultural context of the time.
Readers will find out which areas were restored and why. The book contains many interesting surprises.
