COMUNICACIÓN Y PRENSA
The Council of the Alhambra organized its first exhibition about the sculptor Juan Cristóbal in 1984. Now almost 30 years later it is again paying tribute to this local artist, championing his life and work and defending his position amongst the greatest creators of Spanish art of the first half of the 20th Century.
The Juan Cristóbal (1896-1961) Catalogue contains magnificent photographs of the sculptures of Juan Cristóbal from the exhibition organized in 2014 by the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife, which was staged jointly in two venues, the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation and the Granada Fine Arts Museum at the Palace of Charles V, so becoming the biggest collection of works by the sculptor ever exhibited. In this book, his sculptures appear in chronological order in an attempt to shed light on the artist and his life and times, drawing also on the works of other contemporary artists, so creating a mirror image of his time.
Juan Cristóbal, the sculptor, made the most of his opportunities to consolidate his own personal style full of vitality, strength and the refinement of noucentisme, a path from which he would never stray throughout his long career.
This catalogue, published by the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife in collaboration with the Rodríguez Acosta Foundation, gives us a detailed view of the work and career of this great artist.
