COMUNICACIÓN Y PRENSA
The “Bulletin Monumental” is a quarterly journal aimed at a specialized audience and at amateurs interested in heritage and architecture from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. Nowadays each issue is illustrated with photographs and plans and has 96 pages divided into the following sections:
– Reports: current research into monuments and heritage.
– News: brief articles about recent research and architectural finds made during restoration or excavation work.
– Updated bibliography.
– Reviews: comments and reports published recently in other international journals.
The Bulletin Monumental is the first French review of the history of monumental art and architecture from the Middle Ages to modern times and the only one that offers its readers a general perspective of the news via its information sections.
The Bulletin Monumental continues to explore new areas of research, in particular with the publication each year of one or two issues on specific themes. In this way it not only contributes to the broadening of knowledge but also helps update the different techniques used in this field.
At the beginning of 2014 at the library belonging to the Council of the Alhambra we received the last published issue of this journal, which has been a part of our collection since 1989. It is a pioneering Journal in the heritage and architecture fields, which has been published since 1834 and has links with the French Archaeology Society.
The recent purchase of the Leopoldo Torres Balbás collection enabled us to increase the number of issues of this title, as Balbás owned various issues published between 1903 and 1940, which were part of his private library.
