The book Alhambra (“Space, light, shapes… learning to see the Alhambra”) is part of the educational project which intends to bring the pupils closer to the educational book with regard to its architecture. It is about seeing and observing the Alhambra as a building, and from this analysis on, comprehend any other building using the generalizing keys applied in the visit.
The route proposed in this Alhambra as a city, aiming to comprehend the Alhambra in detail, focuses on the following aspects on the Alhambra,: functions of its structures (walls, gates, palaces, courtyards…); building solidity and technologies, especially ‘how the Alhambra is supported’, and ‘which building strategies have been used’. Finally, the beauty, use and perception of the monument will be stressed.
Furthermore, the educational book El espacio, la luz, las formas… aprendemos a ver la Alhambra, presents the perception of the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife, with its road system and urban quarters, and also as a fortress, symbol of political and religious power to glorify the Islamic religion, the sultan and God by the architecture. Here is to be stressed the perception of the Alhambra as ‘dwelling’ or palace for the persons who lived there.
The educational book is edited by the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife. The book, and the general educational project, is developed for to secondary and senior pupils.
