COMUNICACIÓN Y PRENSA
Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, the Sorolla Museum and Ediciones El Viso have teamed up to issue the catalogue for the Sorolla exhibition Gardens of Light. The catalogue, in Spanish and English, features some of the paintings created by Valencian painter Joaquín Sorolla on his visits to Andalusia and, more specifically, the Alhambra, in the early 20th century, and concentrates on his interest in gardens, as embodied in his paintings of the gardens of the site, of the Reales Alcázares in Seville and of the Andalusian garden he created at his own house residence in Madrid.
In addition to paintings on show in Granada and included in the Sorolla Museum travelling exhibition, the catalogue also features an extensive section showing all the gardens painted by Sorolla from 1908 onwards, making it a reference for the theme of gardens in his work.
The catalogue also contains introductions to the categories into which the exhibition is organised (Earth, Water, Courtyards, Gardens, the Garden of the Sorolla house), by curators María López and Boye Llorens, and a series of studies by the exhibition curators and other renowned art historians.
