COMUNICACIÓN Y PRENSA
At the moment of greatest tension in the history of Christianity when the Catholic Church was about to split in two, the Emperor Charles V called on his most brilliant diplomats, Diego Hurtado de Mendoza, writer, humanist and member of one of the most powerful families in Spain: the Hurtado de Mendoza.
He was given the mission of analysing the rituals and customs of the clergy and religious orders in order try to unify them in a great Council of Christian groups that would prevent the schism.
While on his way to open the now famous Council of Trent, political and military instability in the Mediterranean obliged him to rethink his plans and head for Venice, where he had to perform an urgent mission for the Emperor.
Life in the Republic of canals, the political intrigues and thirst for power of the Senators and their love of gold are the strings that the Emperor’s ambassador will have to pull to ensure that the Doge, the Ruler of Venice does not forge an alliance with the Great Turk against Charles V.
During his journey to Venice, he is caught up in a plot to assassinate the Emperor’s family with that most deadly of weapons: “The sin of the Indies”, a hitherto unknown biological weapon.
