This book presents the reflections of a group of professors and researchers about the image of Andalusia in Europe that was transmitted by the different artistic disciplines and how this image contributed to the construction of the European cultural identity.
The book contains nine articles that express the fascination that Andalusia aroused in the nineteenth century in varying personalities such as the Duke of Montpensier or Washington Irving, who although they arrived in Andalusia for very different reasons were able to transmit an image of Spain in that century that had little to do with existing stereotypes.
The images they conveyed of Spain were above all of places in Andalusia, so turning the region into the image of the country as a whole, a situation that continues to a large extent today. …
