The Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife and the Foundation The Legado Andalusí have published the book Alhambra. City Images and landscape (until 1800), of Antonio Gámiz Gordo. It is a an exceptional work that, between other many values, provides a new and enriched documentary reference on the image of the Monument and its cultural stamp, that undoubtedly will give some surprises to the specialist and the onlooker, but especially it will contribute to an integral valuation of the Complex of the Alhambra to the rest of the citizens.
From its early valuation like monument in 1870, it has been acknowledge the relation between the Complex of the Alhambra as an expressive example to understand the relations of a city inside another pre-existing one, as a way of understanding it from the territorial environment of reference which forms part of, and as a way of valuing the intelligent and refined character of its architecture and gardens. It is a surprising urban system, which structure consolidates in the area providing productive uses and elements of aesthetic delight ness.
A qualified space that Antonio Gámiz has analysed very meticulously in this book, that is the most complete that the author has dedicated, not only offering an approximation, as he did in his doctoral thesis, but offering an exhaustive analysis of the graphical report of the image of the Alhambra and its territorial, urban and architectural evolution that has already become a must see among the full existing bibliography of the monument.
