COMUNICACIÓN Y PRENSA

This work seeks to provide an overview of communal bathing all over the Eastern Mediterranean from Ancient Greece to the Ottoman Empire and is the fruit of research conducted between 2006 and 2010, the results of which have been released to researchers via the staging of three conferences. The first was held in Alexandria in 2006, the second in Amman in 2008 and the third, the one we are presenting now, in Damascus in 2009.

The work of this last conference is organized into four volumes which include a substantial number of photographs, plans and maps showing the location of the baths.

The text describes these establishments from an architectural, archaeological and chronological point of view, without forgetting their social, recreational and hygienic dimensions.
