The Council of the Alhambra and Generalife have published with Granada University Press a new book entitled “The Territory of the Alhambra: Evolution of a Remarkable Cultural Landscape”, (El territorio de la Alhambra. Evolución de un paisaje cultural remarcable) by the researcher Luis José García Pulido. The book, which was presented last night at the Carmen de la Victoria, is structured around four main themes: the use of the territory, the water supply system, the buildings and the roads, which together have provided the infrastructural fabric connecting and sustaining the Cerro del Sol (the hill on which the Alhambra is built) over the course of history.
In short, the book analyses the uses of water in ancient times and in the al-Andalus period, taking as a reference the designs, uses and functions allocated to water by the different civilizations that inhabited the area.
