The Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife presents the documentary film “Morente dreams the Alhambra” (2005), included in the First Series of Audio-visual Memory Cinema of the Alhambra. The movie is directed by José Sánchez-Montes and starring by Enrique Morente, furthermore with the collaboration of Ute Lemper, Pat Metheny, Blanca Li, Juan Habichuela, Estrella Morente, Khaled and Tomatito among others artists. The projection will take place this Thursday, 26 of March, at 18:00h in the Val del Omar Room of the Library of Andalusia.
In the documentary, that takes 90 minutes, Enrique Morente is like a tourist guide for many of his friends, in the musical tour that they do through the Alhambra. The movie represents the encounter of two icons; on the one hand Morente, who evolves from the pure Flamenco up to the fusion, and on the other hand the Alhambra, which experiments different changes as the years pass and marks the tempo of the city of Granada.
Series audio-visual Memory of the Alhambra
The Director of the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife, María del Mar Villafranca, emphasizes the work of research done by the historian of cinema Carlos Martín to recover the Audio-visual Memory of the Alhambra. It is a matter of “contemporary archaeology”, from the mute cinema up to the current day, that completes other previous contemporaries looks done from painting, engraving, literature or photography. The origin of the project is in a small collection set as “Fund of the Alhambra” in the Film library of Andalusia, where the materials that, by contract, the production team donated to the Patronato.
