The Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife will offer free admission to the Alcazaba on the 2nd of January
As in every year, on the 2nd of January, the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife will offer free admission to the Alcazaba (citadel) to allow citizens and tourists to strike the bell of the Watch-Tower Torre de la Vela. According to the tradition, the unmarried women of the city who strike the bell on the 2nd of January will get married before the end of the year. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy a fantastic view over Granada city, the La Vega lowland and Sierra Nevada.
The doors will be open from 08:30 to 18:00. Only admission to the Alcazaba area is free, for the rest of the tour for public visit will be necessary an admission ticket. Furthermore, like on every Sunday of the year, Granada residents have free admission to the Monumental Complex, as part of the “A closer look to the Alhambra” program, after presenting proof of Granada residency to the PAG offices at the Corral del Carbón, at Mariana Pineda street.
On the other side, the altar of the Gate of Justice (Puerta de la Justicia) still is open to the public during the opening hours for pubic visit.
