The magazine Descubrir el Arte grants the Alhambra with the Excellence award for the care and exemplary preservation
The journal Descubrir el Arte (“Discovering Art”) has granted the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife the Excellence award for the exemplary care and preservation of one of the most emblematic Monuments of Spanish history, art and cultural heritage. The prize-giving ceremony will be held on March 9 in the Hotel Palace in Madrid.
After the excellent reception of the first edition of Descubrir el Arte Awards, the journal rewards this year a wide range of categories, private and institutional initiatives, going from the preservation of the Alhambra in Granada to the innovation by La Casa Encendida in Madrid.
In this second edition, the names of Descubrir del Arte Award winners are The Alhambra, the State Corporation for Spanish Cultural Action Abroad (SEACEX), La Casa Encendida, Miquel Navarro, the Gerardo Rueda Foundation, María de Corral López-Doriga, Gabriel Díaz, the Regional Ministry of Culture of Galicia, the Museum Foundation of the Spanish Contemporary Engraving and the Fine Arts Museum of Bilbao.
Most of the categories awarded in 2009 have been repeated in this edition so there are given awards for Excellency, the best Promotion of Young Artist, Career, Influence of the Spanish Art Abroad, New Project, New Artist, Building Project, Alhambra and Artistic Planning. Two new categories have been launched this year: the award for Innovation gone to GTP Museum Solutions, and the award for Motor of the Artistic Creation gone to the International Contemporary Art Fair ARCO.
