The Director of the Alhambra receives an award from the Spanish Confederation of Directors and Executives
The Director of the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife, María del Mar Villafranca, today received an award from the Spanish Confederation of Directors and Executives (CEDE) for her “magnificent management and conservation work at the Alhambra, the most important artistic, architectural and cultural image of Spain, and for her commitment to making the visit to the Alhambra possible for disabled people and for the use of new technologies”.
The institution managed by Villafranca is responsible for the protection, administration and conservation of the Alhambra, Generalife and the Palace of Charles V, together with all the related buildings, gardens and land. The Alhambra is the most visited monument in Spain with over 2.2 million visitors a year.
The CEDE also presented excellence awards to five Andalusian companies with a long history and consolidated expansion. The ceremony at Malaga City Hall was also attended by a large number of personalities from the world of business and politics, headed by Francisco de la Torre, the Mayor of the city, and Baroness Carmen Thyssen, and by high-level representatives of the prize-winning companies, speakers and sponsors, as well as delegates from 43 companies belonging to the Confederation, which is chaired by Isidro Fainé.
The aim of these awards created by the CEDE is to reward the efforts made by Andalusian directors at a time when it is difficult to bring internationalization projects to fruition. The awards were divided into five categories which considered key aspects in business survival such as ‘Cultural Integration’, ‘Cooperative Career’, ‘Business Growth’, ‘Innovation’ and ‘Internationalization’.
The award for ‘Business Growth’ went to the company Mayoral; the award for ‘Cooperative Career’ went to Covap, the award for ‘Innovation’ went to the Grupo Cosentino, and the award for ‘Internationalization’ went to Borras SL.
The ceremony came to an end with a tribute to the Chairman of the Board of CEDE, José Barea Tejeiro. Senior managers from across the whole country who are members of this Confederation have decided to reward him for his long career at the head of various Spanish public sector institutions.
