The Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife closes the public visit “the Walk of the Walnuts” due to maintenance works.
The Conservation Service of the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife is going to begin works of rehabilitation of the pavement of the Walk of the Walnuts and the Cypresses as of today. For this reason, and in order to avoid inconveniences, visitors’ access to the Monument complex will be diverted by the outside of the wall, through the Puerta de los Carros, instead of accessing as until now from the Ticket offices of the Generalife.
The Department of Conservation and Maintenance of the Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife has divided these works in two phases: the first will include from the Entrance Pavilion to the Walk of the Cypresses, and the second from the crossing to the end of the parallel walk to the Theater of the Generalife, that ends up in a small square called Walk of the Walnuts.
The Council of the Alhambra and the Generalife has decided to start up these paving works to improve the access to the Monumental Complex. Therefore, works will consist in the execution of a new pavement similar to the existing one with a nonslip finish to make walking more comfortable. In addition, it is expected that this new infrastructure is equipped with new underground canalizations that will allow a better service of the existing facilities.
The project of restoration of the pavement of the Walk of the Walnuts and Cypresses, whose first phase will have a period of execution until next May, also takes into consideration the reform in the system of illumination towards the beginning of the Night Visit through the Gardens and Palace of the Generalife, next Spring.
