The Alhambra takes part in European Heritage Days with guided tours and lectures

The Alhambra is getting involved in this year’s European Heritage Days by organizing a series of events and activities aimed at showing the public the historic monuments on their doorstep and encouraging them to take part in the debates, in which different aspects of cultural heritage will be analysed. On 6th November at 17:00 in the Palace of Charles V, we will be holding a round table discussion entitled Heritage, de-velopment and the public, in which various representatives of public institutions, the Unesco Centre and members of citizens’ groups will be taking part. Admission will be free, although only a limited number of seats are available.

José Manuel García Aguilar, a Geology professor from the University of Malaga and María Cullel, an Art Historian and quantity surveyor, will be leading the guided tour around the River Darro Valley, which will take place on 8th November at 12:00. As only a limited number of tickets are available, if you are interested in taking part, you should reserve your ticket in advance via email to comercializacion.pag@juntadeandalucia.es  You will then receive confirmation of your booking and details of the meeting-point.

 

On 17 November at 17:00 in the Palace of Charles V, Luis García Pulido, a Doctor in Architecture and Archaeology and member of the Spanish Research Council (CSIC) will be giving a lecture entitled The Alhambra, a cultural landscape . Admission will be free, although only a limited number of seats are available. The next day at 10:00 Mr García will be leading a guided tour around the Cerro del Sol (the hill behind the Al-hambra) and its various water supply systems. As only a limited number of tickets are available, if you are interested in taking part, you should reserve your ticket in advance via email to comercializacion.pag@juntadeandalucia.es  You will then receive confirmation of your booking and details of the meetingpoint. 

Lastly, on 26th November at 19:00h, in the Events Hall at the Palace of Charles V, María del Mar Villafranca, the Director of the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife, and Victoria E. Chamorro, the Secretary General, will be presenting a book they have written together entitled Hacia un paisaje cultural: La Alhambra y el Valle del Darro (To-wards a cultural landscape: The Alhambra and the Darro Valley). Admission will be free although only a limited number of seats are available.
