The Alhambra is celebrating International Archives Day next Thursday 9th June with free guided tours in which visitors will be shown some of the most important items in our collection. Those interested in taking part should book a place as quickly as possible by email to archivo.pag@juntadeandalucia.es or by calling 958 02 79 43.
Throughout the day, visitors will be received by specialist staff from the Alhambra Archives, who will show them the deposits where the document collection is stored. These cover a long period of over five centuries from the Captaincy General of the Kingdom of Granada right up to the current collection of the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife, with the documents produced during the institution’s day-to-day activities. Visitors will also be shown collections of plans, photographs, engravings, posters and new acquisitions that have been added to the Alhambra’s collection.
They will also be taken to the restoration workshop, where they will see the work being done on different types of documents and will learn about how damaged documents are repaired.
