The Alhambra joins to the ‘Earth Hour’

The Alhambra has joined to the ‘Earth Hour’, a global initiative promoted by WWF/Adena against the climate change, which will take place tomorrow on Saturday with a blackout, between 20.30 and 21.30 hours. In this 27 of March, people of more than 6,000 cities of the whole planet will show their personal support to the fight against the climate change turning off the lighting of their most singular buildings.
The Redeemer Christ of Rio de Janeiro, the Eiffel Tower of Paris, the Table Mountain of Cape Town, the Merlion statue in Singapore, the Opera House in Sydney or the highest building of the world, the Taipei 101 of Taiwan, will stop shining for an hour.
In Spain, besides the Alhambra, there will turn off the Cibeles, the Puerta de Alcalá and the Post office in Madrid; the Agbar Tower of Barcelona and the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao.
The initiative also tries to aware the citizens of the importance of the small daily acts, like replacing the bulbs of the house for others of low consumption or to lower the thermostat of the heating, a few ideas that help reducing the energetic consumption, in order to create good habits and to encourage the public awareness of this matter.
Furthermore, worldwide, WWF/Adena holds that, “it will be a clear warning to the governments, so they assume its responsibility and take the necessary decisions to defend the future of the planet”.
