The Council of the Alhambra and Generalife is organizing a number of cultural activities for the 35th Edition of the Granada Book Fair, which we are combining with the presentation of our most important new publications at our stand in the central walkway, near the square known as the Fuente de las Batallas. Among other events we staged a public reading of Don Quixote on 23rd April to coincide with Book Day and the commemoration of the fourth centenary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes. The Reading took place in the Plaza de los Aljibes in the Alhambra as well as in numerous venues in Granada and the Albaicín, such as the Dar al-Horra Palace, the Morisco House in the Calle Horno de Oro, the Bañuelo Arabic Baths, the Casa de los Tiros and the Corral del Carbón; the presentation of the books ‘Ángel Barrios y Granada. La estela de una época’, by Ismael Ramos and ‘Murallas, Torres y dependencias de la Alhambra’, from the collection “Fuentes de Investigación número 5” by Juan Antonio Vilar was scheduled for 27 April in the Puerta Real. The “Reading with Dogs” activity in the Fuente de las Batallas proved very popular with young readers.
