The Council of the Alhambra and Generalife is launching a new edition of free guided visits for people from Granada every Sunday in June, July, September and October from 18:00h onwards. This initiative, which is the product of an agreement with the Granada Provincial Tour Guides Association, is part of the Alhambra Closer programme, which also offers local people and residents of Granada the chance to visit the monument free of charge every Sunday from 2 p.m. onwards with advance booking.
Those interested in taking part should book a place in advance at the offices in the Corral del Carbón, in the Calle Mariana Pineda in Granada, as there are a maximum of 90 places, divided into 3 groups of 30. The visit lasts approximately 2 hours and the guided tours start at the scale models in the Entrance Pavilion. The entrance tickets can be picked up at the ticket office set aside for the Alhambra Más Cerca programme in the Entrance Pavilion, during ticket office opening hours and at least 30 minutes prior to the allotted entrance time.
The Nasrid Palaces, the Generalife, the Medina and the Alcazaba are just some of the itineraries on these special visits. The tour for the month of June is entitled The flora in the Partal and the Generalife; while for July visitors will be touring the Classical Alhambra; in September The Medina and in October The form and function of water through the time and space of the fortress of the Alhambra.
