The Alhambra as inspiration for ephemeral art

Until next Sunday, Granada will be a peculiar exhibition venue for the celebration of Spora, 2nd International Biennial Exhibition of Ephemeral Art, organized by Granada’s University Faculty of Fine Arts and supported by public institutions and private companies, with the participation of 20 artists from seven countries. Following Ana García, Director of the event and Vice Dean for Institutional Relations at Granada’s University Faculty of Fine Arts, the event aims to “use the city of Granada, its heritage, roads and most significant places as scenario for the creation of art”.
Isidro López Aparicio, artist from Granada, has taken the Alhambra as inspiration for the creation of “Realidad oculta”, an allegorical tale which is put on display in several Reyes Católicos street store windows. López engraved in the course of a month images in different spots of the Alhambra to which general public has no access to show them now in one of the most visited areas of the city. On the other hand, the North American artist Larry Cresmann brought leafs and branches from Michigan to join them with those he picked up in the Alhambra Woods to create “The nature of darwing IV”.
Furthermore, in the Parque de las Ciencias we can visit during the week the Open Lab created by Kónic Thtr, a group formed by twelve Andalusian artists from the fields of dance, architecture, IT and electronic music, who will create an interactive joint piece.
The programm organized for tomorrow is as follows: the DESEda group (Granada) at 11:00 in the Casa de los Tiros; The nature of darwing IV, at 12:30 in the Corral del Carbón; the Adeio group (Granada) at 17:00 at Plaza Nueva. On Friday, the British artist Trish Scott will pick up objects from the street to sew them on her white jumpsuit and thus catalogue the “urban garbage” in the work City stitch, whereas the Genil river will be at 13:00 the scenario for Cerámica negra by Alfonso Borragán (UK), and Sociograma interactivo by Daniel Rojas (Barcelona) is shown at 17:00 in the hotel Ladrón del Agua.
Fernando Rubio from Madrid will show Dejar huella at 12:00 at Fuente de las Batallas, whereas the French artista Penélope Hausermann presents Object nature at 20:00 in Teatro Isidoro Maíquez. On Sunday, Kónic Thtr and the participants of the Open Lab will perform the perfect finale at 12:00 in Parque de las Ciencias.
