The Alhambra and Granada have been working together to publish a guide that provides visitors and local residents with information about all the cultural events taking place in the city this summer. The booklet was presented this morning by Sandra García, the Delegate of the Regional Government of Andalusia in Granada, and Reynaldo Fernández Manzano, the Director of the Alhambra, and will be distributed throughout the city and province of Granada. It has been published with the support of the Granada Provincial Federation of Hotel, Catering and Tourism Companies.
This free booklet in two languages coordinated by the Council of the Alhambra and Generalife with a print run of 15,000 copies, includes the complete programme of visits, exhibitions, activities and shows, not only in the Alhambra and its associated monuments in Granada, but also those organized by other cultural institutions on the Alhambra hill. According to the Delegate of the Regional Government “culture is an important economic dynamo for the city of Granada, which creates jobs. This wide range of cultural events will undoubtedly motivate many tourists to choose Granada as their holiday destination”.
Over 100 activities have been organised in Granada this summer during the months of June, July, August and September. They are all detailed in this booklet, which can also be downloaded from the Alhambra website www.alhambra-patronato.es and from those of the different institutions involved. “Our aim is for people to enjoy to the full all the cultural and educational activities being organised on the Alhambra hill. These activities enable us to enjoy our heritage from different perspectives”, explained Fernández Manzano.
A novel aspect of this year’s VEA (a summer of culture in the Alhambra and its associated monuments in Granada) booklet is that it includes a section called the Green Alhambra, which aims “to inform nature lovers about the green spaces (Alhambra Woods, Country Park and River Darro) around the Monument that are always open to visitors and offer an alternative to sightseeing and a cool, shady place in which to relax”, said the Director of the Alhambra.
This summer everything will be possible in Granada from touring the Alhambra, the Museum of the Alhambra, the Fine Arts Museum with its temporary and permanent exhibitions, strolling around the Carmen de los Mártires, going to concerts at the Manuel de Falla Auditorium, visiting the famous composer’s House/Museum; enjoying the Lorca and Granada show in the gardens of the Generalife and the International Festival of Music and Dance, discovering the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation etc….
