The activity in the Alhambra on the occasion of the International Archives & Libraries Day a full success

This morning, the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife has shown its records on the occasion of the International Archives Day with great success. A programme of guided visits to the Alhambra Archive has been organized, enabling the visitors to explore the collection, which includes maps, photographs, engravings, posters, etc.
The available number of places for the event was booked up. The participants learned more about the origin, purpose, organization, installations and description of the collection as well as about the document restoration works that are carried out at the place.
The visit has passed to the research room, where the online access to the Alhambra Library and Alhambra Library as well as its various functions has been explained. Then it was shown to the visitors how to search and consult the records of the collection of the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, by the means of databases and the process of digitalization. At the end, the visitors have learned more about the cataloguing process and the division into sectors.
The International Archives Day is held on the occasion of the foundation of the International Council on Archives at UNESCO in 1948. It gives occasion to promote the significance of archives in the service of research, culture, memory and transparency.
