Summer fun at the Alhambra with workshops and guided tours

Once more, summer at the Alhambra is dedicated to children. Throughout July 160 students are taking part on an educational programme designed to give children aged 7-14 a better understanding of the Nasrid monument, through guided tours, learning workshops and other activities. This morning, María del Mar Villafranca, general director of the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife (PAG), paid a visit to the Palace of Charles V to meet the children currently enjoying a week of fun educational activities at the Alhambra.
The programme combines guided tours through different parts of the site with complementary workshops, where the children develop their capacity to understand and interpret the rich historic and artistic heritage of the site. Each course lasts one week, and activities are scheduled from 8.45 am to 3.15 pm. All activities are developed and monitored by heritage interpreters.
This year, the students taking part in the Summer at the Alhambra programme are mainly from Granada town and province, although there are also participants from Madrid, Valencia, Castilla y Leon and the USA, either living temporarily in Granada or visiting family here. Quite a few children are taking part on the course for the third year running.
