Provincial Council and Patronato de la Alhambra join efforts to promote the monument and to attract tourists
The Patronato Provincial de Turismo, under the Provincial Council (Diputación) of Granada, and the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife have signed today an agreement aimed at joining efforts and information for the integration of joint consciousness-raising and cultural spreading programs about Granada and its cultural Heritage, as well as for the socioeconomic development of the province.
Specifically, as mentioned by the president of the Provincial Council, Antonio Martínez Caler, the Patronato Provincial de Turismo will promote and spread in its promotional programs touristic and cultural circuits, specialized in the Granada´s cultural Heritage and, specifically, in the Monumental Complex of the Alhambra and Generalife.
“The different Spanish Tourism Offices, under the Patronato de Turismo, will organize acquaintance tours to Granada for travel agencies and national and international journalists, aiming at major national and international popularity of the Alhambra and Generalife, apart from the promotion in the fairs. In return the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife will facilitate, within the quota for direct sale at ticket offices, the entrance tickets necessary for these activities”
On the other hand, the collaboration of both institutions will materialize in a permanent diagnosis of the situation of tourism in Granada and of the opportunities the surroundings, with the purpose of adapting the service of the Monument and of Granada to the new requirements of the market and of improving the quality.
In this sense, the Director of the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife, María del Mar Villafranca, has said that it is important to share information to know the tendencies in tourism. “We have to pay attention to the public´s different segments that could come to visit the monument to offer them a more personalized attention, for example, we are working together with the Port of Motril to offer specially prepared programs to the tourists who arrive on a cruise”.
The agreement also aims at supporting performances that will result in an increase of the overnight stays in the province of Granada, sharing the Monument´s capacity for touristic visits with the province and contributing this way to the socioeconomic development of the province.
