Federico according to Lorca, directed by flamenco dancer and choreographer Eva Yerbabuena, who also plays the lead role, is becoming the success story of this summer. According to the organisers, in the first week since it was premiered in Teatro del Generalife, a total of 25,000 tickets were sold for the show, the centrepiece of the 10th edition of the Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens programme, sponsored by the Andalusian Ministry for Culture. Moreover, a further 1500 reservations have been taken for the show, which runs until 27 August, by establishments partaking in the collaboration agreement between Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife (PAG) and many of the region’s hotels.
To make it easier for people to get tickets, PAG has set up a new information and reservation point in the Alhambra gift and book shop at 40, calle Reyes Católicos, Granada. The shop, which opens 7 days a week from 9.30 am to 8.30 pm, offers a personalised reservation system, with tickets to be picked up at the Generalife ticket offices.
The show, interest in which is obvious from over 170,000 Google hits received in its first week, thus adds a new information and reservation point to the habitual ones at El Corte Inglés, Hipercor, www.elcorteingles.es, the Generalife ticket offices and the Teatro Alhambra group reservation point. The show has broken the record for reservations for associations and town councils over the 10 years of the programme. This is partly due, no doubt, to the big increase in group visits from Jaén, Almería and Málaga. The 10th edition of the Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens programme, co-produced by PAG and Yerbabuena’s dance company, offers a range of new features, including a combined ticket for the show and an evening visit to the Generalife Palace and Gardens. PAG has reserved a daily quota of combined tickets for show goers interested in the evening visit, with a special €5 supplement. Evening visits take place from 20:30 to 22.00, when the show starts. The tour covers some of the most emblematic areas of the Generalife site, at a magical time of evening, and there will also be a bar service to make the visit more enjoyable.
