María del Mar Villafranca receives award for promotion of historic, artistic and cultural enrichment
María del Mar Villafranca, general director of Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife (PAG) has been honoured with an award for excellence in the promotion of historic, artistic and cultural enrichment. The award was given “in recognition of her commitment and dedication to public service and the defence of the values of solidarity and democracy”. The award ceremony was held as part of the commemorations to mark the 33rd anniversary of the Spanish Constitution, held this morning at the headquarters of the Government Subdelegation in Granada, at which Luis García Garrido, Government delegate in Andalusia, honoured the work of those people and institutions who have worked towards a more democratic society.
In this regard, the Granada Press Association was awarded a plaque in recognition of their work in favour of freedom of speech, while further awards went to the Granada Civil Guard Command and the Provincial National Police Station in Granada
The Bronze Medal with a Blue Ribbon, awarded for Excellence in Civil Protection, went to Police Commissioner Fernando Ignacio Martín Ibarra and Amador Martínez Gijón, Head of the Traffic Department of the Granada Civil Guard Command, for their extraordinary services rendered in adverse weather conditions in the Sierra Nevada and for their cooperation with the authorities in the management of civil protection situations.
Lastly, the Gold Medal for Professional Merit was awarded posthumously to Francisco Jiménez-Casquet Sánchez, for his exemplary career as a public servant, with the Government Subdelegation in Granada and other institutions.
