The Generalife Theatre has been filled with flamenco with a new edition of the Lorca and Granada programme at the Generalife Gardens. The show ‘Tierra-Lorca Cancionero popular’ is being performed from 18th July to 27th August by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía dance company, directed by the dancer and choreographer Rafaela Carrasco. Tickets for the 30 shows can be purchased at all branches of El Corte Inglés, on the website www.lorcaygranada.es or by calling the Teatro Alhambra on 958 02 8000. Special discounts are available for unemployed people, pensioners, students, youth card holders, tourist pass holders and visitors to the Alhambra group of monuments. There is also the special offer of two tickets for the price of one every Tuesday and Wednesday.
In this show, Rafaela Carrasco has created a cultural and artistic experience with a new choreography, with which she aims to pay tribute to the poet and playwright Federico García Lorca, who was born in the village of Fuente Vaqueros near Granada. The programme started in 2002 and the aim was to create a great show to liven up summer evenings. This year’s edition will once again show off the wonderful wealth of talent we have in Andalusia, and tickets are also on sale on the Junta de Andalucía website. The 2016 edition follows other creations by Antonio Gades, José Antonio, Mario Maya, Pepa Gamboa, Cristina Hoyos, Eva Yerbabuena, Blanca Li, José Carlos Plaza, Rubén Olmo, Manuel Liñán, ‘La Moneta’ and Rafael Amargo, who directed the show ‘Poet in New York’ in 2015.
