This morning, María del Mar Villafranca, Director of the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, accompanied school children taking part in the 6th “Summer in the Alhambra” program, which takes place from June 28 to July 30 in the Alhambra complex. This educational activity for children is aimed at offering recreational activities for school children on their summer vacations.
This year, 200 school children between 7 and 14 years have been the protagonists of the Summer in the Alhambra, most of them pupils from Granada city and province. But also children from other places, such as from Madrid, Western Sahara, Mexico, Germany and USA, have participated, either as temporary residents of Granada city or as tourists visiting Granada with their families on their vacations.
The program combines guided tours through different places of the Monument with additional workshops in which the participants learn to understand and interpret this site full of historical and artistic values. The program includes activities during one week, from 8:45 to 15:15. In this time, the children will be supervised by heritage interpreters on duty of the different activities.
