Almost 40,000 persons have seen the Eva Yerbabuena show Federico according to Lorca in the Generalife gardens
36,614 persons, most of them from Andalusia enjoyed the 10th edition of the Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens programme which ran from 20 July to 27 August and which this year featured the show Federico according to Lorca, produced by Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife (PAG) and the dance company of Eva Yerbabuena, choreographer, star and director of the show.
This morning, PAG general director María del Mar Villafranca and Government of Andalusia cultural delegate in Granada Pedro Benzal gave a “very positive” evaluation of the show, which had daily occupation rates of 72%, with most spectators coming from Granada, Malaga, Jaén and Seville. Mondays were the busiest days, when all seats (1640) were sold out, along with the fortnight from 6 to 20 August.
With regard to spectators from the rest of Spain, the El Corte Inglés sales points which sold most tickets were those located in Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia, Murcia, Zaragoza, La Coruña, Alicante, Cartagena, Tenerife, Badajoz and Vigo; another 3500 tickets were acquired at the Alhambra ticket offices by tourists from other countries.
A new feature this year was the combined ticket for the show and an evening visit to the Generalife Palace and Gardens. Over the duration of the show, a total of 2465 persons (675 in July and 1790 in August) took advantage of the offer.
Villafranca and Benzal also gave special thanks to the many businesses in the accommodation and catering sector in Granada who agreed to participate in an initiative to spread word of the show among their clients, prompting some 500 of them to buy tickets. Another pricing option was the advance sale discount price, taken up mainly by 200 organised groups, mainly women’s, youth, cultural and seniors’ associations.
