The Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife has disclosed the number of visitors to the exhibition Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife, at the crypt of the Palace of Charles V, from its opening day, July 29, until Tuesday, August 17. According to the information offered by the PAG Analysis and Data Unit, the show has had 129,855 visits during the last two weeks.
718 visitors (of the total amount of 129,855) have visited the show with free admission, and 440 of them have been Granada citizens, due to the cultural program offered by the Patronato de la Alhambra, of which any person can make use on Fridays and Saturdays from 20:00 to 22:00. The other part of the visitors entered with an Alhambra general admission ticket.
With regard to the type of visitors with admission ticket, in the first place has to be mentioned the Spanish visitor, which amounts 39.25 % of the individual visits and 37.48 % of the group visits. French visitors are in the second place of individual visits, being 17.99 % of the total amount, followed by German visitors in group visits with 32.50 %.
Patronato de la Alhambra is the name of the exhibition by which the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife presents the twelve lions from the most emblematic court of the Alhambra, after three years in the Restoration Workshop of the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife. Since July 29 and until January 9, 2011, the twelve lions from the fountain are on display in the crypt of the Palace of Charles V.
In the meantime, the archaeological intervention in the famous court, undertaken by the Conservation Department of the independent body, will come to a close. The exhibition offers the visitors the opportunity to contemplate these unique Nasrid sculptures together with virtual recreations, located at the little chapels surrounding the Crypt of the Palace of Charles V, with five different educational topics: Water lions: Graphic record of the transformation of a fountain (1668–1976); The restored lion; De-installation and transport of the lions; The restoration process; The poem of the Fountain of the Lions.
The show is open for public visit from Mondays to Sundays, from 8:30 to 20:00 as part of the itinerary of the Nasrid Palaces, or with the special visit offer with free admission on Fridays and Saturdays from 20:00 to 22:00. Furthermore, for a closer look at the exhibition, the Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife offers guided tours, a service within the Program Education in the Alhambra, as well as explanations by the general audio guides for the monument.
