The 18th International Meeting on Heritage Conservation is announced for 9–11 November 2011 in Granada. As in previous years, researchers and professionals in the conservation and restoration of the world’s cultural heritage come together to discuss theoretical, scientific and technical advances in the field.
On this occasion, the choice of Granada as venue for the event is based on its historic and cultural tradition and on its long and acclaimed status as a University city, and linked to the commemoration of the Millennium of the Kingdom of Granada; accordingly, this edition pays special tribute to the artistic and cultural heritage of Islam, making Islamic art and culture its central theme.
Talks cover a wide range of subjects, and the meeting is open and varied, gathering together research centres, universities, schools and other educational institutions, businesses and individual professionals, all of whom pool their experiences and work together to design improved protocols for the maintenance, preservation and restoration of the world’s heritage. This comes at a time when, after long demand for regulation and recognition of the profession, EHEA-regulated centres now offer degree courses studies in Conservation-Maintenance of Cultural Heritage, satisfying not only the need for specific academic training of quality, but also to meet the preservation needs of our rich, extensive heritage.
On this occasion, Granada Science Park and the Caja Granada Central building will hold a series of workshops on training, scientific research, preventive preservation, legal frameworks, interventions in the preservation and reservation of cultural assets, innovation and dissemination. The sessions will be presented by nationally and internationally acclaimed experts in their fields, with the support of major institutions and sector businesses, and will discuss recent advances in the transfer of knowledge and the development of research findings.
The 18th International Meeting on Heritage Conservation is an acclaimed international event and the most important conference held in Spain on the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
