The ‘Torre de la Pólvora’ is a small medieval islamic tower which is a part of the defensive nasrid system of the Alcazaba. It is situated in the north-east an in a slighty advanced position relative to the wall which makes it an strategic point for the control of the attackers whose access was though the watercourse situated in the foothills, now known actually as Cuesta Gomérez.
In Christian times, the Torre de la Pólvora tends to addapt to the defense by the general use of the artillery, and it is known that in this place this kind of material was storing and using.
Opening time: From 8:30 to 20 hours. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Entrance: with the general admission ticket for the Monumental Complex of the Alhambra.
Capacity: maximum 30 persons simultaneously
