The lesser periwinkle

The lesser periwinkle or dwarf periwinkle (Vinca minor L.) is a trailing shrub, originally from the Mediterranean region. Its scientific name comes from the Latin word vincire "hold, fasten". Very common in Spanish gardening, it tends to occupy secondary roles in the garden, above all supporting sloping ground or covering cool, shady edges. Striking features include its abundant, dark, shiny, evergreen leaves and its mass of bluish, pale violet and white flowers. In the Alhambra and Generalife it flowers between February and April and is associated above all with banked woods and vegetable gardens. It is easy to grow, is very vigorous and is attacked by very few pests or diseases.
Naturalized in most of the world, it is currently considered an invasive species in the United States and Australia.
