Romantic Viewpoint
Name: Romantic Viewpoint
Period: The Romantic Viewpoint was built in 1836 by the administrator of the property of the Generalife, Mr Jaime Traverso, who was the administrator of the possessions of the Marquises of Campotejar.
Outstanding features: The architecture and the arrangement of the viewpoint present a contrast with the Nasrid architecture based in the palace of the Generalife. This contrast is more obvious when comparing with the Lindaraja Viewpoint located in the Court of the Lions. On the other hand this Romantic viewpoint doesn’t present such a hard contrast where it’s located since it’s surrounded by romantic gardens and not by the typical vegetable gardens of the Nasrid period.
When describing this viewpoint, we talk about a Neogothic style building from the XIX century. It’s interesting to see that it was projected as a Neogothic style viewpoint instead of a Neoarab considering its context within the Alhambra. Obviously, the distinctive style it has was intended to present a contrast.
