Parapet Walk of the Alcazaba
The Alhambra is built on top of the hill of the Sabika. This location gives the monument a dual control: physical and symbolic, achieving a complete control over the territory and the defence of the area simultaneously. Its position makes of the Alhambra an independent and impregnable ensemble, especially from the strategic point of view. This feature starts already with the Alcazaba, which is the oldest part of the Monumental Complex.
Apart from having a military function, the Parapet Walk was also delimitating the urban structure of the citadel, once it went through the Alcazaba (Gate of the Arms) it reached the interior of the Alhambra complex.
